Lucille Aroosian is Gladys' half sister and the sister of Peter's mother. She was not born during the Armenian genocide but plays a vital role in the novel. Lu is one of Peter's caregivers in Peter's life. She is described as a force be reckoned with, strong willed, and like her mother and sisters, surprised to learn of the Armenian genocide. Lu is an unmarried businesswoman, like Gladys. She is a highly moral and religious individual. Over the course of the book, however, she finds several artifacts that assist Peter in discovering his family's roots. Although Lu is only a minor character in the novel, she provides Peter with integral information.
