What is the cause of the conflict between Catherine and Heathcliff in Chapter 8?

One day when Hindley is gone, Heathcliff takes this opportunity to have a relaxing day. He intends to spend the day with Catherine, but becomes hurt when he realizes that she plans to visit with Edgar. Catherine and Heathcliff argue, and Edgar enters as Heathcliff leaves the house.
