Atticus Finch is shown to be a very good parent. He is patient and is consistent with his direction and discipline. As a result his children listen to what he says and more often than not obey his rules. He also shows kindness and love toward them. However, it can also be said that even though he spends a lot of time with them and loves them very much, he also is very much a product of his time period in that he relegates the day to day caring of the children to Calpurnia.
