Why is Goldilocks forced to hide in the Dwarf Forest? Chapter 17

Goldilocks' horse, Porridge, is tired because he's been running for hours. As a result, Goldilocks finds an old barn, in which, she occasionally hides. She then tells Porridge to find somewhere safe to rest until morning, and she goes into the barn to hide herself.
