Chapter 21 begins with the narrator wanting readers to fill glasses with water and tap them to hear the different notes they make. Next readers need to fill them to make specific notes and then play a specific piece. This is something that Georgie can do. When the action begins, Georgie is involved in rehearsing for the play and Jeanie still taps him on the shoulder, but now he is playing with Andy and Russ and he spends time with Andy alone as Russ is helping with the sets for the play. He continues to practice riding his bike and when the time comes to ride with Russ and Andy everything goes well. He even decides that he likes Russ. After riding their bikes, the three boys design Andy’s new room, as Andy is no longer moving and his parents have said that he can have the new room they are adding to the house. Georgie comes up with the idea to have a rock climbing wall that also serves to take Andy to his bed, with a ladder for the days he does not feel like climbing. Russ starts sketching the plans.
