What is the setting of The Shining by Stephen King?

The main setting is the Overlook Hotel. It is the Colorado mountain resort hotel where Jack is hired as the winter caretaker. The Overlook Hotel has a checkered history because a murder-suicide and several deaths have occurred there. The hotel is destroyed at the end of the novel as the boiler explodes when Jack forgets to relieve the pressure on it.
