What is the author's style in The Memoirs of Cleopatra: A Novel by Margaret George?

The story is written in a very straightforward, informal style. This makes it much easier for a reader to become engrossed in the story, the plot and the subplots. However, it should be noted that the language is modern and is not in keeping with what would be expected of the time and place.
