Who is Tiny Colletto from The Log from the Sea of Cortez and what is their importance?

Tiny Colleto was a seaman and a member of the three-person crew of the Western Flyer, which was hired in Monterey to join the expedition to the Sea of Cortez. Tiny and Sparky grew up together in Monterey, and were known to be good-natured trouble-makers in their younger days. The pair are presented as inseparable and almost interchangeable. They are often doing the same things at the same time and have a similar approach to life. Both men are avid and successful fishermen, and provide fresh fish to the expedition while in Mexico.
