Who is Poggin the Dwarf from The Last Battle and what is their importance?

Poggin is the last Dwarf to show loyalty to King Tirian after he and the other dwarves were held hostage by the Calormenes and were being marched into slavery. Poggin helps Tirian fight the Calormene.
