There are several interesting uses of language throughout the book. For the most part, narration is written in straightforward, unembroidered prose, at times and perhaps paradoxically both poetically and pointedly evocative. Dialogue generally evokes the sense of real people speaking, particularly when it comes to the words spoken by the younger male characters (Homer, Ulysses, Lionel, Auggie, etc).
