What are the motifs in The Good War: An Oral History of World War Two by Studs Terkel?

Government propaganda is a recurring idea in the story. The propaganda used by governments is another topic throughout the novel. In the United States, there are many who believe the government falsely presented information in an attempt to gather support for WWII. For example, many women strongly believe they were led to marry soldiers and go to work. They were led to think that they were vital to the war effort, but following the war, these ideas were shattered when they were sent back to their homes.
