Who is Pepin Polypheme from The Floating Island and what is their importance?

Pepin Polypheme is Ven's father. He is a shipbuilder by trade, and he loves his sons and is very proud of each of them. Pepin worries about his boys, but he trusts them to do the right thing. When the Ven travels on a ship that is destroyed, his father worries endlessly, not for his business, but for the well-being of his son. pepin is filled with joy when he learns that Ven is alive.
