Can you see reasons for why the people of Waknuk’s have certain attitudes towards deviation?

I think this very closed society is ruled by fear and paranoia of anything that is different. They use a very narrow interpretation of their Bible to justify their fear and paranoia. This enables them to exclude and insulate themselves from other living beings and organisms. This attitude becomes a vicious cycle of entitlement for all that is deemed "normal" and punishent which is deemed "deviant".
