Keller is an intellectual. He is very proper and has frequent fevers that keep in in bed for weeks. His newspaper Old Kasperl satirizes the government and is shut down by Cabarrus. But, Sparrow and Weasel find a way to keep Keller's newspaper going in secret. Keller is wanted by the police but is hidden by Madame Bertha. Keller attempts to get himself arrested in a plan to break Theo out of prison, but he dies in the attempt.
