Significance of Owl

Athene's owl is a symbol of wisdom. The owl is the symbol that Zeus assigns to Athene. In this way, the author is using the owl in order to magnify Athene's character's wisdom. Indeed, throughout the novel, she is often depicted giving her father advice and counsel.
