Who is the antagonist in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson?

There are two apparent antagonists in the novel. The first is Jean's mother; the second in the church. Jane searches for protection from both her mother and the church, as a result of the persecution she expereinces for lifestyle choices.
