What do all of the characters have in common in the novel, One Amazing Thing?

All of the novel's characters are united by a common thread, they are all planning on traveling to India. While each person's reasons for going to India are different, they all share a belief that their travels will change the course of their life. The novel's narrative never settles in India, but many of the characters do share stories of their lives in that country.
