Where did Laura and her family live before moving to Plum Creek in the novel, On the Banks of Plum Creek?

Before settling in Plum Creek, Laura and her family lived in Big Woods, a wooded area in Wisconsin. It is from the Big Woods in Wisconsin that the family first moves to head west in search of a better life and a better future. Laura reflects fondly on her time in the Big Woods, but much prefers her life spent on the American prairie.
