The rabbit on the table becomes a symbol of King's belief in magic because the reader is immediately able to see the rabbit. Only when King writes more about the rabbit is he able to use telepathy to communicate his view of the rabbit. The rabbit is a symbol of King's images in that the rabbit is used to represent all images in writing.
