King said good writers can become excellent writers, but bad writers will always be bad writers. King believes that writers have innate talents that can be improved on, but since writing is a passion and must be honest, it cannot become more than it is. In other words, writers who follow their passion will become better, but bad writers probably don't have the passion or the honesty necessary to improve.
