King believes that a writer who is being honest is one who is true to his own beliefs about writing. For example, an aspiring writer is one who is not using pretentious vocabulary he or she learned solely for the purpose of writing. Possibly, King developed a respect and ear for the vocabulary of people, as he worked at the many menial jobs he held before he became successful.
