Who is Tig from Old Babes in the Wood?

Tig is a recurring character throughout the collection. He appears in all three of the short stories found in Part I, “Tig & Nell,” as well as all four of the stories found in Part III, “Nell & Tig.” Because he and Nell have been together for many years, his life and character are deeply entangled with Nell’s. Therefore, although Nell is arguably the protagonist of the seven stories found collectively in Parts I and III, Tig’s presence is equally as significant.
