What is Silo?

In "Half-Life," Dee and Fellis spend much of their time smoking and drinking in an abandoned silo. The resonance of the silo as a place where goods are stored speaks to the sensation that Dee increasingly has that his life is stagnant. Fellis also speaks at length of the possibility that the silo could flood. The flood imagery, which is often associated with the silo, further speaks to the sensation of being overwhelmed, trapped, or underwater.
