The story is told in simple language, with minimal descriptions and imagery. Because the horrific images of the real 9/11 are by now firmly entrenched in most Americans' memories, it is not necessary for the novel to provide more insight into the attack. With the simple words of a woman saying "Oh my God" as the first plane hits, the reader can envision clearly the image of the first plane hitting the tower.
