How is water used as an image in Act 2 of Macbeth?

Water is seen as a purifying element. In Act 2 is the scene where Lady Macbeth and Macbeth discuss the 'blood' on their hands. She replies that a little water will set it right. Water is used throughout the play, however, both as rain, references to oceans, tears, etc...
