Who knocks on Miles and Chip's dorm room door in the beginning of "the day after"? Where are they told to go?

A hung-over Miles and Chip are summoned by the Eagle to the gym. When they arrive, they discover that Alaska is not there. The Eagle announces that Alaska died the night before, when the car she was driving collided with a police car guarding a jackknifed truck.
