Who helps in tutoring Miles and several other students for an exam in "one hundred one days before"? Is the tutoring effective?

Two days before an impending math exam, Alaska takes Miles and a few other students (including druggie Hank and Rumanian Lara) for a tutorial session, eating french fries and smoking constantly. Alaska's tutoring has a good impression and helps the other students pass the test.
