Miles discovers that Alaska had, next to the quote, written in the words "Straight and Fast," which Chip takes to mean that Alaska, drunk and angry and upset, ran her car "straight and fast" into the police car in order to get out of her "labyrinth of suffering." In other words, she killed herself.
