Richard O'Grady was a young bond salesman, who spoke to trainees about his experience as an invited applicant. Corbett, a Salomon recruiter, issued O'Grady an ultimatum to accept his job offer. O'Grady didn't appreciate the ultimatum, stormed out, and took a job with another Wall Street firm. O'Grady's experience confirmed that confrontation works best with traders since Salomon called him a year later to apologize and make another offer.
