Lead from the Outside is written in Stacey Abrams’ first person point of view. This perspective allows her to share the intimate emotions and experiences of her life story, while also dispensing advice and wisdom. Employing the first person point of view also lends Abrams an authorial presence over her own story and experiences. She tends to introduce each theme and lesson by sharing an anecdote from her life. By doing this, she is actively practicing self-reflection and introspection, important skills that Abrams considers to be critical is mastering power.
