What are Julian's Books?

Mare finds that the books in her cell at Whitefire belong to Julian. She is comforted by them, and describes them as “a piece of a friend” (174). She places them alongside Gisa’s embroidered silk, indicating that she views her relationship with Julian as close as family. The books represent Mare’s continued connection to her past, as well as Maven’s desire to gain her love.
