Language in King’s Cage is straight-forward and simple. The three narrators have similar language use, varying only in the number of expletives used – Cameron uses words such as “ass” throughout her narration, while Mare and Evangeline refrain from using slang. The novel contains several words unique to the Red Queen mythos, particularly those used to describe newblood and Silver abilities. For Silvers, these include nouns like magnetron, burner, nymph, strongarm, and windweaver. For newbloods, these include nouns like electricon and shield. The narrators mention specific regional accents throughout the novel, but there is no shift in language use to represent them to the reader.
