Who is Saul Indian Horse?

Saul Indian Horse is the novel’s narrator and protagonist. He is an indigenous Canadian of the Ojibway tribe, and he was born in the early 1950s. As a boy, he lives a semi-nomadic life with his family, as they move from place to place in order to evade the violence and kidnappings perpetrated by white Canadians on native Canadians.
