Café Loup is a symbol of the narrator's affection for her neighborhood, New York City's West Village. It is a gathering place for artists and other creative people to discuss their work and issues of the day, expressing camaraderie and understanding. She refers to it as a "moveable feast" (75) for discourse and friendship, in the sense that different people may be there from day to day, and different subjects may be under discussion, but it is always a delight.
