What metaphors are used in God's Bits of Wood by Sembene Ousmane?

In Chapter Eight, it can be argued that the death of Niakoro can be seen as a
metaphoric representation of the death of tradition, a casualty of the (different) battles of transformation being waged by the men and women of her community.
