Why is Max amazed by Kevin's mechanical bird?

Max helps Kevin retrieve a mechanical bird from a tree limb. This bird amazes Max because, even though it is a toy, the bird flies exactly like a real bird. The toy moves up and down, round in circles, and flies higher than Max can reach.
