Fight Night is narrated in first person and past tense primarily by Swiv, an eight-year-old child, in the form of a letter she is writing to her absent father. The circumstances of Swiv's father's absence are unclear until Chapter 10, when Swiv learns of the affair her mother had while filming a movie in Albania. Swiv tells her father about events that are occurring in her life, including her expulsion from school and her subsequent homeschooling by her grandmother, Elvira.
