Simile:

He started to kick me. The metal buckles on his boots stung like bites from giant mosquitoes.

Flashback:

When he was ten, he had missed two questions on his catechism test.... Papa took him upstairs and locked the door. Jaja in tears came out supporting his left hand with his right.
