What happens in the opening pages of the novel, Dragonslayer?

In the novel's opening pages, three siblings, Heath, Stone, and Rose, attempt to steal some of the dragons' treasure. When a dragon queen confronts them, Stone kills her, prompting the dragons to seek revenge by burning a human city.
