Although in most circumstances water is seen as a symbol for healing, growth, life and purity, in “Water, All its Weight”, water is symbolic for the decay that comes with its excess. The juxtaposition of the pure quality of water with the rot that results from its excess is important in understanding the irony of Bianca’s rotting physical environment against the purity of her soul.
