Adichie says that she initially feels it is a huge task, but then realizes that she may be qualified, because she has spoken publicly on the subject. She has also helped care for babies, worked as a babysitter, raised nephews and nieces, and done a lot of watching, listening, and even more thinking. She later says that she is also a mother, and she now sees how easy it is to give advice when you are not actually raising a child in this difficult world.
