What is the theme in Dark Flame by Alyson Noel?

Grief is another theme of this novel because Ever is still grieving her family and her own mortality. Although Ever encouraged her sister to cross over to the other side, she still misses her and wishes she could conjure her up whenever she needs to talk. Ever has experienced a terrible loss and she is still coming to grips with it.
