Example Chechnya conflict. -How do you think the world community will deal with similar conflicts in the future?

I'm not a history person but the world tends to deal with foreign conflicts depending on what interests certain powerful countries have in them. Chechnya was only important as far as Russia looked to maintain and expand their boarders. The rest of the world is weary of entering conflicts unless there is the balance of power or commodities like oil at stake.
