Anne dreams of her best friend and that her best friend had been taken by the Nazis. When she wakes screaming, Dussel accuses her of trying to get them caught. We can see that he does not know how to deal with children and that he is a very self centered individual. This is also a very telling situation for Anne in that the realities of the war have made her worried for her friends.
