Why do the narrator and Sasha visit Moldova in the novel, All-Night Pharmacy?

Moldova is also the country from which Sasha and her family immigrated when she was seven years old. Convinced she has "unfinished business" there, Sasha impulsively buys two plane tickets and begs the narrator to accompany her (181).
