Research Activity

Have the class go to the library and research the clothing and lifestyle of the village. Pay special attention to period and class.

Potluck

Have a small class party at the end of the book (after the test!). Have students bring in food mentioned in the book or popular during the era depicted in the novel.

Timeline Activity

Write down events from the book; general or specific. Cut the paper into strips with each event separate, and have the students draw them out of a hat. Then draw a long line on the chalkboard. Have the students come up, one by one, and place their event where they think it should be. As a class, go over the timeline and discuss any errors/disagreements.

Dress Up

Have the students come in dressed as their favorite character from the book. Have a "best costume" contest.
