Lesson

1. In Class Reading: Hand out copies of a short biography on Charles Bukowski. Have the class read the biography and take notes in preparation for a discussion on it.

2. In Class Writing Assignment: Based on what you have learned about Charles Bukowski from reading his biography, write one or two paragraphs about him and his accomplishments.

3. Class Discussion: Who was Charles Bukowski? What are his most popular works? He wrote in America in the 1970s; how does the time period and location in which he lived affect his writing? How does his life affect his writing? What significance might his biography have regarding his writing career?
