August is living in a shed offered to him by Peters, the bishop of the colony. The shed is a temporary living situation, but he has been living there for over seven months.

The women in the colony were attacked by a group of men. They were forced to sleep with anesthetic before they were sexually assaulted over the course of several years.

3. What was the aftermath of learning who was assaulting the women?

After the colonists realized who was assaulting the women, Peters put the men in a shed. When the men were attacked, Peters and the elders decided to move the men to the city for their own protection.

4. What images did the women draw, and why?

The women were not able to read or write, so the women drew images to reflect their options. A drawing of a horizon reflected the women doing nothing, a drawing of two colonists fighting represented staying and fighting, and a drawing of a horse's rear end represented leaving.
