Write a Letter

Have students pretend to be Eldon and write a letter to a relative who lives somewhere else. The letters should describe Eldon's life and his family.

Make a Diorama

Have students create a diorama of their favorite scene in the book.

Put On a Play

Have students put on a play from the book. Break students into groups of five to seven and have each group choose a scene to act out. Help students realize that there could be a narrator for each scene as well as all the main characters.

How Does It Work?

Have students make a model of any piece of equipment used on the farm and explain how it works.
