Objective

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the first ten pages of the play by reading it and creating various descriptions of the mood and characterizations of Estragon and Vladimir. Students should keep a notebook for this and all other assignments.

1. Divide the students into groups of two. Have the students read the first ten pages of the play aloud, each student taking one part. Each group should then come up with lists of 7-10 words each that describe the mood of the play and the characters of Estragon and Vladimir. These can be words from the play. No more than ten words should be used in each list, so the groups of two students will have to determine which are the most powerful words. A thesaurus can be used.
